How to sign a PDF

  1. Click Choose PDF. The pages of the document appear below.
  2. Click Create signature and choose how: Draw with your finger or mouse, Type your name and pick a handwriting style, or use a Photo of your signature on paper.
  3. Tap the page where the signature should go. Drag to move it and use the corner to resize it. You can add the date, initials on every page and as many signatures as you need.
  4. Click Sign and download PDF.

Three ways to create your signature

Sign contracts, forms and letters without printing

Lease agreements, offer letters, school permission slips, invoices and consent forms often only need a signature on the last page. Instead of printing, signing and scanning, sign the PDF directly and send it back in a minute. Use Repeat this signature on every page to initial all pages at once, and Today's date to add the date next to it.

Electronic signature vs. digital certificate

The signature you add here is an image of your handwritten signature placed on the PDF — what most people mean by “e-signing” a document, and what's accepted for countless everyday agreements. It is not a certificate-based digital signature (the kind with a cryptographic certificate that some governments, courts and banks require). If the recipient asks for a certified digital signature, use the system they indicate.

Your signature never leaves your device

Your signature, the document and everything you type stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored, so nobody can reuse your signature.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to sign a PDF here?

Yes. You can sign as many documents as you want, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Is an electronic signature legally valid?

In many countries, electronic signatures (such as an image of your signature on a PDF) are valid for most everyday agreements, as long as both parties accept them. Some documents require a certificate-based digital signature; when in doubt, check with the recipient. This is not legal advice.

Can I sign a PDF on my iPhone or Android phone?

Yes. Open this page in the browser, choose the PDF, draw your signature with your finger and place it on the page.

How do I add the date?

Click “Today's date” and tap the page where it should go. You can move and resize it like the signature.

Can more than one person sign?

Yes. Create a signature for each person on the same device, or sign, download and send the file to the next person to add theirs.

Is my signature saved anywhere?

No. It exists only while the page is open, inside your browser.
