  4. Click Add watermark and download.

Protect copies of your documents

When you send a copy of a passport, a driving licence or a bank statement to a landlord, an agency or a company, a watermark saying what the copy is for — such as “Copy for XYZ Lettings — 2026” — makes it much harder to reuse the document for something else. It is a simple habit that helps against identity fraud.

The watermark is applied in your browser — the document isn't uploaded. Your original file stays unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put the watermark on only some pages?

Yes. In More options, type the pages in “Which pages” (for example, 1, 3-5).

Can the watermark be removed?

It is drawn into the page content, so it is not removed by ordinary readers. Determined people with editing software can still work on it, as with any watermark.

Can I change the colour and transparency?

Yes. Choose grey, red, blue or black and a very light, medium or strong intensity.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no extra marks of our own.
